Terms of Service Al-Hira Mosque & Education Centre

1. About these Terms These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of al-hiramosque.com ("Website") and the services you book, request, or submit through it.

Al-Hira Mosque & Education Centre is operated by Hazrat Sultan Bahu Trust (UK), a charity registered in England and Wales (charity number 292697), whose registered office is at 17–21 Ombersley Road, Birmingham B12 8UR. In these Terms, "we", "us", and "our" refer to the Trust acting through Al-Hira Mosque & Education Centre.

By using the Website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

Separate terms apply to our staff and administrator portal, and to our mobile apps.

2. Who can use the Website 2.1 You may browse the Website freely.

2.2 To create an account, you must be aged 14 or over. If you are under 18, please make sure your parent or guardian knows you have an account with us.

2.3 Registrations for our Quran classes must be completed by a parent or guardian. Registrations for the Alim course must be completed by a parent or guardian where the applicant is under 18. See section 6.

2.4 You must provide accurate information when you submit a form, and keep your account details up to date.

3. Your account 3.1 You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything done through your account. Tell us immediately at alhira.edu@outlook.com if you think someone else has accessed it.

3.2 Do not share your account or use anyone else's.

3.3 You can delete your account and its data at any time at al-hiramosque.com/delete-account, or by emailing us.

3.4 We may suspend or delete an account that is used in breach of these Terms, or that has been inactive for 6 months.

4. Prayer times and the Islamic calendar 4.1 We publish daily prayer times, jamaat times, and monthly timetables in good faith and take care to keep them accurate.

4.2 These times are provided for guidance only. They may contain errors, may not reflect a last-minute change at the mosque, and may differ from times published by other mosques or calculation methods.

4.3 Islamic dates and the start of Islamic months are subject to moon sighting and may change at short notice.

4.4 You are responsible for satisfying yourself as to the correct times for your worship. We are not liable for any missed or mistimed prayer, fast, or other religious observance arising from reliance on times published on the Website.

5. Questions and Answers 5.1 You may submit questions through our Q&A page. Answers are given by our Imam and scholars in good faith, based on authentic Islamic teachings and the Hanafi school of thought.

5.2 Answers are religious guidance only. They are not legal, medical, financial, immigration, or professional advice, and must not be relied on as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. If your question involves your legal rights, your health, your finances, your immigration status, or your safety, please seek proper professional advice as well.

5.3 We are not obliged to answer every question, and we may decline to answer any question.

5.4 Personal questions are treated confidentially and are not published. We may publish a question, in general terms and without identifying you, where it is of benefit to the wider community. If you would prefer we never publish your question in any form, please say so when you submit it.

5.5 Do not use the Q&A page to report an emergency or an urgent safeguarding concern. In an emergency, contact the emergency services on 999.

6. Class and course registrations 6.1 Submitting a registration is a request for a place. It does not guarantee one. We will confirm whether a place is available.

6.2 Quran classes are for children aged 5–16, and registration must be completed by a parent or guardian, who confirms they have authority to register the child and consents on the child's behalf.

6.3 The Alim course is open to applicants aged 14 and over. Applicants aged 18 or over may register themselves. Where the applicant is under 18, a parent or guardian must complete the registration and consent on their behalf.

6.4 You must give accurate information, including the emergency contact details we ask for, and tell us if they change.

6.5 We may refuse or withdraw a place, including where a student's conduct makes it inappropriate for them to continue.

7. Nikah bookings 7.1 Submitting the nikah form is a booking request. Your booking is not confirmed until we confirm it to you directly.

7.2 Nikah must be booked at least one week in advance. The bride and groom must bring valid photo ID to the mosque at least one week beforehand so we can confirm identity in person.

7.3 We strongly recommend that you complete your civil marriage with your local council registrar before the nikah. If you have not yet done so, you must at least have booked a registrar appointment and upload the confirmation.

7.4 A nikah conducted at the mosque is a religious marriage. It does not, by itself, create a marriage recognised in the law of England and Wales. A religious-only marriage may leave you without the legal rights and protections of a civil marriage, including on separation or death. We are not responsible for any consequence of your not completing a civil marriage.

7.5 By naming witnesses, you confirm that you have their permission to give us their name and address, and that you have made them aware of our Privacy Policy.

7.6 We may decline a booking, including where we are not satisfied as to identity, eligibility to marry, or that both parties are entering the marriage freely.

8. Funeral and janazah services 8.1 Funeral and janazah services are arranged by telephone or in person, not through the Website. Please call our emergency contact on 079 6037 5619.

8.2 Any information published on the Website about these services is for general guidance.

9. Hall hire Hall hire enquiries are made through our contact form or by telephone. Any hire is subject to separate terms and confirmation of availability.

10. Donations 10.1 Donations are processed by our payment provider, SumUp. We do not receive or store your card details. Your donation is also subject to SumUp's own terms.

10.2 Donations are voluntary and are non-refundable, except where required by law or where a payment was made in error. If you believe you have donated in error, contact us at alhira.edu@outlook.com as soon as possible and we will consider your request. [CONFIRM — see note]

10.3 We use donations for the general charitable purposes of the Trust unless you have given to a specific appeal, in which case we will use it for that appeal or, if that is not possible, for a closely related purpose.

10.4 You must be the authorised holder of the payment method you use.

11. Feedback Feedback and ratings you submit help us improve. We may use them internally and may publish them in anonymised or summarised form. Do not include personal information about anyone else in your feedback.

12. Acceptable use You must not:

use the Website for any unlawful purpose, or to break any applicable law or regulation; submit anything abusive, threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, or intended to incite hatred or violence; impersonate anyone, or give false information; submit personal information about another person without their permission; upload anything containing viruses or other harmful code; attempt to access the staff or administrator areas of the Website, or any account, data, or function you have not been given access to; interfere with the operation or security of the Website, or attempt to bypass any security control; or copy, scrape, or systematically extract content from the Website. Attempting to access restricted areas without authorisation is prohibited and may be an offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

13. Content you submit 13.1 You keep ownership of what you submit. By submitting it, you give us permission to store it and use it for the purposes described in these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

13.2 You confirm that what you submit is yours to share and does not infringe anyone else's rights.

13.3 We may remove any submission at our discretion.

14. Our content The content of the Website — including text, timetables, answers, images, and design — belongs to us or our licensors. You may view, download, and print it for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not otherwise reproduce or republish it without our permission.

15. Availability We aim to keep the Website available, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend, or withdraw any part of it at any time without notice.

16. Suspension and termination We may suspend or end your access to the Website or your account at any time if you breach these Terms, if we suspect misuse or a security risk, or where we are required to do so by law.

17. Links and third-party services The Website links to and relies on third-party services, including SumUp, and our hosting provider. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party websites. Your use of a third-party service may be subject to its own terms.

18. Liability 18.1 Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

18.2 Subject to 18.1, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Website, or from your reliance on any content on it — including prayer times, Islamic dates, and answers given through the Q&A page.

18.3 We provide the Website free of charge for the benefit of our community. These Terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

19. Privacy Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data, and our Cookie Policy explains our use of cookies. Both form part of these Terms.

20. Changes to these Terms We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Website after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

21. Governing law These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
